Mojoblog Post Titles, Meta and SERPS

Mojo’s about to get it’s meta on..

From a googler’s perspective most major Search Engines score or rank web content according to a variety of unique factors but all return our search queries with paged lists of websites that display title of the page found as well as either meta from the page header or an excerpt from the page that included your search term.

So from a blogger’s perspective to maximize your mojoblog search engine results position (SERPS) it’s been a common recommendation from SEO pros to name or title your posts with a relevant, meaningful phrase that encapsulates or summarizes the core intent of your content.

Mojo, being a derivative of WordPress does have the option to not only display meaningful titles but also an option to rename post titles that display differently in post trackbacks, it’s called the post slug. So, why doesn’t mojo display unique post titles in the header and why don’t your post slugs show up in search engine results?

Good URLS gone wild

Back since day 1 (com_jd-wp) there’s been issues with wrangling the jd-wp/mojo component so it displays page and post titles in the proper title position on joomla based websites. There’s been a bunch of work-arounds including our current hack found in our tutorials section: Making Mojo SEF but, what’s been needed was an easy-peasy way to get things to function seamlessly with little if any mojo user intervention.

mojoPUB

Within the next few weeks we will release our newest bit of mojo wonderment; our PrettyUrlBot more affectionately known as mojoPUB. MojoPUB is a joomla plugin (mambot) that will handle all the sniffing and querying needed to get your mojo inserted into the correct places within your joomla installation.

Our beta release will support both default joomla 1.0.13 and joomla 1.0.13 with search engine friendly URLS enabled. Soon afterwords we plan to add support for Marko’s OpenSEF component and other popular joomla SEF components following as time and developer participation progresses.

One small step for bloggers, One giant step for mojoBlog.

    Wow, That would be great!

I already use the MojoBlog component, not extensively though because of the Title issue, but this will boost MojoBlog as being the number one Blog component for Joomla!

    At least in my opinion…

Good work. I have tested all the Joomla options except for the MyBlog commercial component, which looks simple and clean, but as I have tested the various component options, including blog component options, I have learned that it is best to go with a component that has a strong community behind it and/or has some portability to it. This is since I have seen many times previously when a Joomla upgrade, security risk or upgrade to some other component can cause issues, and when there is little to no support, portability is the only way to maintain the content in a sensible fashion without having to copy and paste into some other application, which is why I have stuck to Joomla as the primary means of publishing. Sometimes this sucks, since it is not as easy as using Wordpress or even Blogger, but I can easily migrate content from one site to another with Joomla. That said, your component is very clean - a lot cleaner than the JD-WP, which I once used extensively. Good work. Thanks.

This is great news. I just installed your mojoBlog on a new installation of Joomla! and was amazed at the perfect way it fit into my template. Instead of trying to tweek, I think I will wait for mojoPUB.
    Thanks for a great component!

I’m using mojoblog on Paparazzipolice.com I have inserted some adsense code for each post but adsense is not sensing the content. Is there any solution to this? I am using Joomla 1.012

  6. clydd responded:

no news of the bot yet? :(

  7. admin responded:

No need, 0.16 added core SEF capabilities rendering our mojoSEF neutered and forlorn.

  8. Toufiq responded:

i want to get the module which can show the latest posts.

    thanks.

  9. mutedcensor responded:

Hi. Any news of a version for Joomla 1.5? I would love to use this component but it doesn’t work with 1.5.
    Thanks.
